  Gramvikas Sanstha is working since last 20 years in the field of water management and GramSwaraj. Marathwada region has suffered from drought in the year 2012, in this year the fruit growing farmers has suffered a lot all the agriculture products were destroyed because there was shortage of water. Many farmers have committed suicide because they were having burden of loan which they were not able to because of lost in agriculture.

  Gramvikas Sanstha has taken the intiative to change the situation of the villages which suffers because of shortage of water; GVS has started the project the area is to the south direction distance of 12 km from Aurangabad city. GVS has already implemented its projects in sindon, bhindon to Akod, Pachod, chitegaon, apatgaon etc. under the head of Vasundhara project. Chite River flows from this villages and cover the distance of 16.5 km. Vasundhara project is being implemented on this river, 15000 people are dependent on this river.

  GVS has started this project so that there can be availability of water during the entire year even though there is very less rainfall. This initiative will not only help the farmer in doing their work and there life will become more prosperous.

Chite River Rejuvenation campaign is all about?

  Chite river rejuvenation campaign is about making availability of sustainable water for the people of the area from where the river flows even during the drought year with proper water management. The river gets dry during the summer time because there is no proper management of water by which the water can be properly channelized during the rainy season into the river so that the rain water can be utilized during the summer and in other season of the year for different purposes.

Activities of the campaign till date:

  Gram Vikas Sanstha has prepared a plan under the Vasundhara Project, in which GVS has carried out the following activities likes’ capacity building training, to involve public in this project the entry point activity under which road construction, public meeting hall construction, solar light facility, provision of providing utility kitchen ware items, etc have been done till date.

  As well as water management 2500 hector compartment bandings, 168 hector dip CCT, 31 farm ponds, 21 cement bands, Deepening widening 15 KM, desilting of percolation tank 70,000 QM etc work has been down by helping other departments. 162 women self- help groups established for women empowerment and also made 300 water friends and local youth mandles are voluntarily working for environment conservations etc

Output of the project:
  • There is positive output from this project and they are as follow.
  • Increase in ground water level
  • Increase in irrigation area
  • Increase in agricultural production
  • 300 Jal Mitra (water friend) are working for the project.

Future plan:

  Gramvikas Sanstha’s goal is to make a holistic development in the area of the project and to provide a sustainable plan for future so that the work can be continue in future and can give more positive results in upcoming years.

To accomplish this goal GVS has prepared a 10 step plan Which as Follows
  • Increase length and width of the river
  • Method of series CNB
  • On the slope of mountain Dip CCT and Area treatment
  • Removing of mud from Perculation Tank
  • Plantation on wasteland area
  • Farm pond
  • Water harvesting with latest technology
  • Maintenance of old K.T. wear
  • Increase in water usage with efficiency
  • Sustainable rural development

  The activities will be carried out by organizing several activities in the village like, essay and drawing competition, Kirtan program, etc, all this work will be carried out with the support world bank, agencies of rural development, public representative, corporate Sectors various organization/group, local self help group, youth group, Jal mitra, local villagers.
